The 2014 Camaro Z/28 incorporates a full aerodynamics package designed to produce downforce at track speeds. At the front, a large splitter is connected to an underbody panel that reduces lift; the aerodynamics are further improved with fender flares over the front and rear wheels, along with rocker panels that assist in attaining aerodynamic stability. An aggressive rear spoiler and functional diffuser round out the aerodynamics package. “What makes the Z/28 so addictive is it inspires confidence through every section on the track,” said Camaro Z/28 engineering manager Mark Stielow. “The incredible, balanced performance helps you carry much more speed through every corner: the brakes are so good you can adjust your braking points later and later; the grip and suspension damping allows you to carry more speed through the apex; and then the limited slip allows you to make the most of the LS7 as you power out of the corner.” The impressive power produced by the LS7 in the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is distributed to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential featuring a helical gear set, not traditional clutch packs. The 2014 Camaro Z/28 rides on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and tires that reduce unsprung weight by 42 pounds (19 kilograms) compared to the 20-inch wheels standard on the Camaro SS and ZL1. The smaller diameter wheels lower the car’s center of gravity by 33 millimeters — which contributes to improved handling.  All four lightweight wheels are wrapped in 305/30ZR19 Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, marking the first production application of the ultra-high performance tires; GM believes the rubber to be the widest front tire on any production car. To optimize the 2014 Camaro Z/28 for the track, Camaro engineers creatively removed mass from the vehicle, or what General Motors calls “an intensive lightweighting program”. The efforts resulted in a 100 pound (45 kilogram) decrease in curb weight compared to the naturally aspirated Camaro SS and 300 pounds (136 kilograms) when compared to the supercharged Camaro ZL1. “We looked at every subsystem for opportunities to save weight,” said Oppenheiser. “Our goal was to get rid of everything that didn’t make the car faster, and keep only what was required by law." “We used the very best components in the industry to deliver uncompromised performance, lap after lap,” said Mark Stielow, Camaro Z/28 engineering manager. Over 200 changes were made to improve the Z/28′s track performance; these enhancements allow the Z/28 to achieve 1.05 g in cornering. According to Mr. Stielow, all other things being equal, increasing maximum grip from 1 to 1.05 g can cut up to four seconds per lap. Seating was also optimized for a lighter vehicle - but you'd never know it from the sport suede seats, reminiscent of racing harnesses on the track. Rear seats were redesigned to save pounds as well. The interior of the Z28 was optimized to be as light as possible - including optional air condition and radio. This particular vehicle has both. Other features include the flat bottom steering wheel found in the ZL1. The Camaro Z/28 comes exclusively with the Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. The six-speed gearbox features close-ratio gearing and 3.91:1 final drive ratio, both optimized for the power characteristics of the LS7 V8. The new design enables the driver to apply more power and get through corners faster by continuously adjusting the torque bias to maximize available traction. The differential works in conjunction with Chevrolet’s proprietary Performance Traction Management system (PTMS). The system allows drivers to adjust the level of throttle and brake intervention to match their capability and driving environment. Unlike competitor's racing technology, the Z28 includes cooling systems necessary for track racing. The 2014 Z28 is the most powerful Camaro yet - topping the charts with over 500 horsepower through a lighter, naturally aspirated LS7 7.0 liter V8. So many people that come into Milton Ruben Toyota of Augusta &  see the XSP badge on some of our vehicles and conversation usually goes like this : " Wow that is gorgeous" " I have never seen that before " " I have looked at Toyota's website & that package is not listed! " XSP-X So what is this mysterious Toyota package?  XSP is a racing appearance package available for select Toyota Models through Southeast Toyota dealerships like Milton Ruben.  One of the vehicles that the package can be added to is the Toyota Tundra. For this incarnation, we added the package to an already slamming Tundra SR5 Crewmax 4X4! This past week we sent Heather Cortright, one of our top notch phot ographers, on a mission t o tame the rarest creature of them all, our white 2013 SRT Viper GTS, and capture it in its exoti c state. Like a pro she survived and produced some very striking im ages. White and adorned with black gunmetal stripes that signify its aggressiveness,  18 inch Pirelli tires that gives it sure footing, and an AWD track package, the Viper blurs highway lines with an exceptional merger of beauty and exotic performance.  If you are able  to tame the beast and enter its lair, you will discover a world of Laguna leather, red SRT stitching , and chrome befitting the king of all the snakes. Dodge went to great lengths to ensure it will never again meet the endangered species list. The long, athletic body houses a powerful 8.4 liter V-10 engine that produces 640 Venom-Power (horses are too slow of a reference), with its agility controlled by a 6 speed Tremec manual transmission. All this makes it one of the fastest street legal cars in the world with a 0-60 strike in 3 seconds. Formerly Dodge left you on your own in that department, but not with the 2013 reincarnation. For the first time ever it has electronic stability control/ traction control paired with a 4-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS). Plus with the optional track package, it is equipped with 18" and 19 in  sidewinder hyper wheels paired with antilock brakes with 2-piece StopTech rotors. They are clad with P irelli rear performance tires ensuring it fangs will never loose its grip on the road. It is alive and it yearns to be out on the road, slithering, pouncing, and beating the competition. When the world first saw the Chevrolet Colorado in 2004, it  was  to replace the popular S-10 truck. Then in 2012 the Colorado took a hiatus, but it is back, bolder, powerful, and beautiful than ever as witnessed at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Though not yet available at Milton Ruben Chevrolet and other dealerships, as soon as Chevrolet  gives us the green light to start orders , we will let you know! The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado will feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6-liter V-6. Both engines will feature variable valve timing and direct injection. Both will also have a six-speed automatic transmission to transfer the power to the rear wheels. Regardless of engine size, the maximum towing capacity will be about 6,700 pounds. Also a cool aspect of the Colorado A cool aspect of the Colorado is that while it is a mid-size pickup truck, it has elements of a crossover .            Chevrolet has not given official numbers for horsepower and torque, but we expect the  four-cylinder engine to put out 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.  The V-6 engine should put out 302 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet also has a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel planned for the 2016 models. If you are interested in the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, you’ll have a choice of three models: the extended cab or crew cab with a 5-foot bed or the crew cab with a 6-foot bed. Trim levels include the WT, LT and Z71. All three trim levels will be available in two-wheel or four-wheel drive configurations. The Z71 will feature gunmetal trim instead of the chrome on the WT and LT, and will have unique 17-inch wheels and projector headlights. All models will feature a coil-over front suspension with electric power steering and low-mass aluminum knuckles. All models will also feature four-wheel disc brakes and Duralife brake rotors. The bed features a two-tier loading system – it is designed so that it can be split into upper and lower sections. The bed also features 13 tie-down locations. The interior will feature cloth seats – or you can choose the optional leather seats. All models will feature a center console, sculpted headliner, a floor-mounted shifter and tons of storage. The Z71 has its own interior trim including contrasting stitching and embossed seatbacks. Technology will include an 8-inch color touch screen on the LT and Z71; and all models will feature a dedicated area for a smart phone, multiple USB ports, MyLink and OnStar. Certain models and/or trim levels will also feature six airbags, lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a rear vision camera. The Z71 will also feature StabiliTrack, hill start assist, hill descent control and trailer sway control. We would like to introduce you to Emma-Kate Few, a sophomore at Aquinas High School who also is a national spokesperson for  the charitable organization Soles 4 Soul, and t he 2014 Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen. Milton Ruber Super Store has partnered up with her to become a local drop off point for the organization’s national shoe drive! Soles 4 Sole is 501(C) (3) charity based out of Nashville that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and communities across the United States. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria.  Emma told us since 2005, Soles4Souls has distributed over 19 million pairs of shoes, currently donating one pair every seven seconds!! The shoes have been distributed to people in over 129 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal, Haiti, Japan and the United States! Tips/Info about how to participate from Emma-Kate Be on the lookout for any old shoes or shoes that don’t fit anymore around your home. No matter condition of the shoe, they are accepted!
