We knew we'd be getting one of the first 2015 Corvette Stingrays in the region.  We knew it would be fairly impressive.  We prepared, studied up on the modern updates to the classic muscle.  When we got notice from Chevrolet that our 2015 Corvette Stingrays had shipped, we cleared the show room in anticipation. We thought we were ready. But friends, there's no way we could have prepared for the immaculate beauty and power of even one 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51.  No disrespect to the classic dream car of the 1960's - this is a whole new generation of vehicle.  And with this kind of advanced, almost Bourne-esque technology, with the body style that reminds us of the supercars you could only fantasize about, and the power that melts the hearts of millions - this ain't your grandpa's muscle car.  I mean just LOOK at it! Oh excuse me, am I drooling?? The 2015 Corvette comes in a multitude of options.  Of course you have the coupe, as well as the convertible for those who want to feel the impact of almost 460 horsepower on their face.  From there, it extends to the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, and those trims also come with the option of the Z51 Performance Package. Both Corvettes in our showroom are 2015 Corvette Stingray 3LTs with a Z51 Performance Package. With varying color seat options, each Stingray is equipped with 8-way power leather seats, keyless access with push-button start, power tilt and telescoping steering column, two 8-inch HD color displays, and the 9-speaker Bose audio system with a minimum 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio. An upgrade from 1LT to 2LT or 3LT will give you heated seats, lumbar support, seat emblems, Bose' premium audio system, memory seats, and extended trial period of XM radio, and so much more. The 3LT Z51 sports a custom Napa leather wrapped interior, with Corvette emblems in the seats. This particular vehicle was chosen with Grand Touring seats, but Performance Sports Seats are also available. Optional in all other trims, the Z51 3LT's steering wheel is wrapped in leather. Heated and ventilated seats, navigation, and HD screens in driver display as well as the digital information system take the 3LT a step above. The new 2015 Stingray offers a performance data and video recorder to keep memories - or spy on the valet. The gray Corvette (custom-built by a customer) is a 7-speed manual. The Velocity Yellow (currently looking for a home) Corvette is an 8-speed Paddle Shift Automatic Transmission. Both have Performance Gear Ratios. Active Fuel Management deactivates four of the eight cyclinders when you don't need that extra punch of power to improve fuel economy to an average of 29 mph highway. The direct injection acts as a key performance technology facet, delivering fuel to achieve maximum thermal and combustion efficiency, and increasing torque, power, and fuel efficiency. Without, of course, compromising it's 0-60 in 3.8 seconds capacity, nor it's roaring 460 horsepower. Air flow is a high priority in the Stingray this year, even in the Brembo brakes. Air flows through the front grill to the wheel wells to assist in cooling the brakes and enhancing performance and longevity. Exclusive to the Corvette Stingray brand, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Zero Pressure tires optimize ride, grip, and handling. Our Velocity Yellow Z51 also sports color-matched calipers. Electronic Limited-Slip Differential promotes improved stability and responsiveness. A hood air extractor allows flow of air through the front grill and over the radiator for optimal air flow, reducing front-end lift, increasing downforce, and improving handling at high speeds. LED lamps cast light into a reverse reflector to illuminate evenly and clearly on the taillamps. A third brake light sits on the rear spoiler for prime effective warning. Technology masters both high and low beams with Bi-Xenon HID lamps on the head lights. The 2015 Stingray is 100 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Magnetic Ride Control is a real-time damping system that "reads" the road every millisecond and re-adjusts in under 15 milliseconds, making it the fastest acting suspension in the world. The Z51 coupe is sold in the "Pacific" style - with aggressive racing build. The "Pacific" coupe design includes a distinctively sharp rear spoiler. Multiple driver modes lets you slip from the safety of "weather" to the ferocious power of "track" with the turn of a wheel. Golden arches, value menu, late night snack in college, a clown you thought was funny when you were a kid, but now kind of seems a little on the creepy side - the thoughts that come to mind when you hear " McDonald's."  How about free 2014 Avenger? McDonald's Restaurant store owner Andy Harrelson, of Aiken, SC, visited us last week and selected a sleek, red, brend-spankin-new Avenger to give away to a manager in the Co-Op of Augusta.  At a breakfast hosted in downtown Augusta at the Kroc Center, Mr. Harrelson joined other owners in announcing how each store in the Co-Op performed in reaching their goals over the past year.  Each manager earned tickets for their respective compliments, and the tickets were deposited into a Happy Meal box.  Five tickets were selected for a chance at owning the red beauty in the parking lot outside, as well as a hefty check to distribute as bonuses among their department.  Selected managers reached into the box and pulled out the key to a 2014 Dodge Avenger, and streamed outside to test out which key would be "the one." One by one, each manager tapped the panic button on the key, the crowd tensed in suspense for who would be the new owner... and none triggered a response.  Perplexed, each manager tested out the button again - Finally, Latoria Bussey burst into a shriek and smile as her key triggered the panic alarm in her brand new 2014 Dodge Avenger! The 2014 Camaro Z/28 incorporates a full aerodynamics package designed to produce downforce at track speeds. At the front, a large splitter is connected to an underbody panel that reduces lift; the aerodynamics are further improved with fender flares over the front and rear wheels, along with rocker panels that assist in attaining aerodynamic stability. An aggressive rear spoiler and functional diffuser round out the aerodynamics package. “What makes the Z/28 so addictive is it inspires confidence through every section on the track,” said Camaro Z/28 engineering manager Mark Stielow. “The incredible, balanced performance helps you carry much more speed through every corner: the brakes are so good you can adjust your braking points later and later; the grip and suspension damping allows you to carry more speed through the apex; and then the limited slip allows you to make the most of the LS7 as you power out of the corner.” The impressive power produced by the LS7 in the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is distributed to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential featuring a helical gear set, not traditional clutch packs. The 2014 Camaro Z/28 rides on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and tires that reduce unsprung weight by 42 pounds (19 kilograms) compared to the 20-inch wheels standard on the Camaro SS and ZL1. The smaller diameter wheels lower the car’s center of gravity by 33 millimeters — which contributes to improved handling.  All four lightweight wheels are wrapped in 305/30ZR19 Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, marking the first production application of the ultra-high performance tires; GM believes the rubber to be the widest front tire on any production car. To optimize the 2014 Camaro Z/28 for the track, Camaro engineers creatively removed mass from the vehicle, or what General Motors calls “an intensive lightweighting program”. The efforts resulted in a 100 pound (45 kilogram) decrease in curb weight compared to the naturally aspirated Camaro SS and 300 pounds (136 kilograms) when compared to the supercharged Camaro ZL1. “We looked at every subsystem for opportunities to save weight,” said Oppenheiser. “Our goal was to get rid of everything that didn’t make the car faster, and keep only what was required by law." “We used the very best components in the industry to deliver uncompromised performance, lap after lap,” said Mark Stielow, Camaro Z/28 engineering manager. Over 200 changes were made to improve the Z/28′s track performance; these enhancements allow the Z/28 to achieve 1.05 g in cornering. According to Mr. Stielow, all other things being equal, increasing maximum grip from 1 to 1.05 g can cut up to four seconds per lap. Seating was also optimized for a lighter vehicle - but you'd never know it from the sport suede seats, reminiscent of racing harnesses on the track. Rear seats were redesigned to save pounds as well. The interior of the Z28 was optimized to be as light as possible - including optional air condition and radio. This particular vehicle has both. Other features include the flat bottom steering wheel found in the ZL1. The Camaro Z/28 comes exclusively with the Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. The six-speed gearbox features close-ratio gearing and 3.91:1 final drive ratio, both optimized for the power characteristics of the LS7 V8. The new design enables the driver to apply more power and get through corners faster by continuously adjusting the torque bias to maximize available traction. The differential works in conjunction with Chevrolet’s proprietary Performance Traction Management system (PTMS). The system allows drivers to adjust the level of throttle and brake intervention to match their capability and driving environment. Unlike competitor's racing technology, the Z28 includes cooling systems necessary for track racing. The 2014 Z28 is the most powerful Camaro yet - topping the charts with over 500 horsepower through a lighter, naturally aspirated LS7 7.0 liter V8. Last week was an exciting week at Milton Ruben Chrysler Jeep Dodge. We welcomed two of the newly redesigned Chrysler 200s to our store. We like to call them, " the gems from Detroit." The first we noticed about the vehicle's were obviously it's exterior.  The design is refreshing and shows the direction the Chrysler line is heading towards. They have taken took mere sheet-metal, crafted molded, & elevated it into something that is not only at home on the road, but could also be displayed at Augusta's Morris Museum of Art. The sculpted trunk lid, headlights accents, and arching roofline make the Chrysler 200 sure to go down in the historic books as a definitive turning point in American car design. The day the cars happened to arrive was a stroke of luck.  We were hosting an advanced screening of A dam Sandlers's & Drew Barrymore's latest hit romantic comedy " Blended " at the Regal Cinemas. So we had a chance to take the sporty 200s model with us to the movies and give it a proper Augusta debut.  As we drove we became intimate with the luxorious cabin of the car which made us feel like American royalty.  The  200s' s PentaStar V-6 engine's acceleration was strong, smooth, but not noisy.  After we arrived at the theater we handed the keys over to Brent from CW Augusta who acted a ringmaster, giving the car a grand introduction to the crowd that came to the movies. As a dealership it was exciting to see how the public reacted to the newest member of our family. Many enjoyed the design and were shocked that the sticker price was not astronomical.  Some enjoyed the fully digital display and the way the cockpit complements the driver. One woman even proclaimed " This is my new dream car". Now thats not bad for  the 200's first day out in Augusta!! The thing is though, you can read about a car all day, watch youtube videos, but in order to really learn more about you have to see it in the flesh.
