May is the month to honor our nation’s military. Not only is it National Military Appreciation Month, but our nation’s armed forces captured one of the most wanted men in history – Osama Bin Laden. Award-winning television and film actor Gary Sinise will be visiting the Active Duty Rehabilitation Unit at the Charlie Norwood VAMC and the soldiers in Fort Gordon’s Warrior Transition Battalion on April 21. Mr. Sinise is well known for his role as Lt. Dan in Forest Gump as well as his television role in CSI: NY. After visiting with the soldiers, he will attend the 319th Transportation Company Vietnam Veterans' Second Annual Wounded Warrior Dinner. Proceeds from the event will go to help build permanent housing for wounded warriors who choose to call Augusta home. Milton Ruben Superstore is honored to be a sponsor. Members of Hanahan High School's ECO Challenge Team from Hanahan, SC participated in a competition designed to promote environmental awareness in their community. Their goal was to learn how to reduce the use of fossil fuels. After interviewing a Toyota dealership to learn more about hybrid cars and the Toyota Prius, they created a brochure about hybrids and minimizing the use of fossil fuels to hand out to community members.
