How did John do it?

1) He dropped two of his biggest caloric offenders: sugary drinks and beer

2) He walked during his lunch break

3) He worked out several nights a week after work

4) He adjusted his portion sizes

Congratulations John, you’re an inspiration!

More than 60 Milton Ruben employees participated in Lose Baby. While the main reason people joined was undoubtedly to lose weight, the voluntary program’s goal was to educate, to motivate and to encourage one another to stay focused. We did this by keeping a confidential record of percentage weight lost per individual, and helping members stay on track with weekly healthy goodies, and informative and educational materials on proper diet and fitness. We even started a private Facebook group to share recipes and tips. Going forward, we’ll use these tools to maintain our progress.

Above all, we believe that happy employees lead to happy customers. And we’re so proud of all of our participating employees. Be sure to visit our stores to congratulate all of our participants!

At Milton Ruben Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, passenger safety is a priority. Our youngest patrons are no exception.

As all parents know, car seat shopping isn’t easy, especially since qualities vary and expiration dates must be considered. So, when we heard about Babies”R”Us’ month-long campaign to trade up car seats, we saw in them a kindred, safety-conscious spirit.

During the month of September, each Babies”R”Us store will accept outdated, potentially-expired car seats. In return, customers will receive a coupon for 25 percent off of a brand new car seat for their child. Babies”R”Us will properly dispose of the dated car seats. This way, expired, less-safe car seats will be off of the market, and will not be sold in garage sales or other non-regulated spaces.

Milton Ruben Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is determined to make vehicles as safe as possible. That's why we're teaming up with the community Babies "R" Us in their Car Seat Trade Up program to get old, expired car seats off the road. Enter to win a new car seat from Milton Ruben at the Babies "R" Us in Evans, Ga.

To support this great cause and bring awareness to the issue, Milton Ruben Chrysler is giving away three car seats, one during each full week in September. With the help of Babies”R”Us experts, these seats have been selected for their safety rating and high-quality. Starting today, visit the Babies”R”Us in Evans to enter to win.

According to Parenting.com, car seats usually last between five and nine years, but it’s important to note that every car seat is different and that safety standards are constantly evolving. The best strategy to ensure that a car seat is still as safe as possible is to keep and read the user manual and stay informed about recalls and new research. If you do purchase a used car seat, make sure you know about the seat’s accident history (including details, such as if the car was able to drive away from the crash site, and if the door closest to the car seat was damaged) and whether or not any pieces of the seat have been broken or lost.

If you’re ready for a safety upgrade, visit the Milton Ruben table at the Babies”R”Us in Evans to fill out a quick entry form. Winners will be selected each week, and there is no purchase or trade in necessary to win.

The Evans Babies”R”Us is located at 4225 Washington Rd., Evans, GA 30809 and can be contacted at 706-651-9300. For more information on the Car Seat Trade Up program, visit the national website.

REO-1000x400-with-JMS

As you’ve probably heard, Augusta is about to be rocked by REO Speedwagon when they visit the Bell Auditorium on Sept. 15. The music legends, who have not gone a year without performing since their rise to fame in the 1970s, are in town to celebrate Eagle 102.3’s 21st birthday. And here at Milton Ruben, we’d never miss a party.

We’ve teamed up with Eagle 102.3 to give away tickets to the show. From now until Tuesday, Sept. 15, stop by the parts desk at Milton Ruben Toyota to fill out an entry form for tickets. We’ll announce winners the afternoon of the show with the help of DJs Cliff Bennet and Andrew  Harmon, who will be broadcasting live from the dealership.

Still not convinced? The show and celebration will all benefit the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation, the local organization that provides assistance to families of burn patients being treated at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. The Burn Foundation does everything, from opening up the Chavis House for lodging during treatment to providing medication, anti-scarring garments and transportation after a hospital stay.

It’ll be a night to remember, so enter at Milton Ruben Toyota to ensure that you’re part of one of Augusta’s biggest events.

This morning we were running back and forth between dealerships here at Milton Ruben, when something caught our eye. Nestled in between the line of colossal Jeeps was a rare treat: a tiny yet powerful vintage Corvette.

We immediately abandoned our sprint to the nearest air-conditioned building.

This 1994 Corvette Coupe has two doors and a hatchback body style. The exterior of the car is full of intricate details such as square exhaust pipes, factory alloy wheels and classic logos, but the interior features a bold red interior, complete with leather seats. The 5.7 L engine cranks out 300 horse power and 340 pounds of torque.

To say that this two-door hatchback is still in style is an understatement. This 1994 pre-owned Corvette Coupe features a bold red interior and is sure to bring back memories of sleeker times. Find more information at http://bit.ly/1JyxrBA.

Think of all the historic moments that happened in 1994. The longest MLB strike in history began, “The Lion King” was released, and America Online and NAFTA were both introduced to the world. Also entering the world: Justin Bieber. Clearly, 1994 was a pivotal year. Go back to that sleeker, simpler time with the 1994 Chevrolet Corvette.

Pop in a Green Day cassette tape and let the memories wash over you.

This past May, General Motors and Chevrolet revolutionized their “infotainment” efforts by announcing that 14 of the new 2016 Chevrolet models will contain support for Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay. Beginning with the production of the 2016 Tahoes, Suburbans and Volts, Chevy will allow your automobile to essentially turn into a smartphone at the touch of a button.

Chevrolet has released new technology called "CarPlay" in select 2016 models. The Chevy MyLink Digital Information system connects to your smartphone and shares the screen for easier access to your phone's data. For more information on the new CarPlay, visit http://www.miltonrubenchevy.com.

Sales Consultant Benjamin Ivey connects his iPhone to the new 2016 Chevy Impala to activate CarPlay.

Android Auto, with its many features from Google, has been released and is already compatible with many cars in 11 countries. The app features space for third-party apps, opening up potential expansion in the future. Apple announced plans for a similar app in 2014, and premiered CarPlay earlier this year.

CarPlay is currently available on applicable 2016 Chevy models. Android Auto for these models is scheduled to be released later this year, and will be installed through a quick update at their dealership.

While many auto brands are already compatible with the Android app, Chevy and GM’s 2016 announcement is the largest offering of both systems, and will lead the way for modern cars. As Apple introduces CarPlay, Android Auto premiered its first update this week, just in time for 2016 models to become available.

Milton Ruben Chevrolet tried out CarPlay on the new 2016 Impala. While Apple’s goal is to eventually activate CarPlay wirelessly, Sales Consultant Benjamin Ivey connected his iPhone 6 Plus to the car through a charging port. Using the touchscreen and buttons on the steering wheel, he was able to navigate through music, podcasts and audiobooks, as well as texting and calling contacts using Siri.

Even if your car does not have a navigation system, Apple Maps will guide you upon selecting “Maps” in Apple CarPlay and entering a destination.

While the integration will undoubtedly be successful for Apple, Android and car manufacturers, the true value will be measured in safety. Drivers who connect their smartphone to their car will use voice activation as well as the car’s familiar touchscreen displays, buttons and knobs instead of looking down to use their phone. Currently, 9 people are killed and 1,153 people are involved in accidents each day due to distracted driving. Can we change that number? There’s an app for that.

I willingly admit that I am one of those individuals who has to change the channel when a Humane Society commercial comes on.  A voice in my head argues every time I do it, that I should endure the heartbreak of watching these poor, innocent animals stare at me through my tv screen, begging me to take them home.  And if my home (and fiance) could handle it, every last one of those little furballs would be scampering about, leaving chaos in their wake.

Alas, neither my wallet, nor my tiny home could withstand such a feat of adopting every pup and feline in need.  Luckily, there are opportunities like this one – the 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Helicopter Golf Ball Drop hosted at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken, SC, which benefits F.O.T.A.S. (ie: Friends of the Animal Shelter).

An excuse to play golf on a weekday AND support a rescue for adoptable furbabies? We pretty much fell all over ourselves scampering to the table and signing on the dotted line.  When we found out how many other things will be happening at this event, it was impossible to have second thoughts.

FOOD
There will definitely be no rumbly tumblys at this shindig, with breakfast by Ridgecrest Coffee Bar, lunch by Longhorn Steakhouse, and Par 3 apps by Travinia’s Italian Kitchen and Ruby Tuesday.

PRIZES
Southern Bank & Trust and Hibbitts Drug Company will be providing golfer goody bags, and there will be awards to the winners, as well as a raffle or two!

HELICOPTER BALL DROP
After the awards ceremony, these guys have managed to partner up with PRIME Steakhouse, Chesterfield Interiors, Chesterfield Salon, First Communities, and Lathan C. Burns Memorial to organize a Helicopter Golf Ball Drop! Golf balls are $10/ticket to match a corresponding ball, then the whole load of them will be dropped from a helicopter, and the first ball to drop into a hole wins it’s “owner” a cool grand!

And of course,

GOLF (AND A HOLE IN ONE CAR)
With four-player teams, the players will get to enjoy the beautiful greens of Houndslake Country Club on a gorgeous late summer Monday! All this hoopla appealed to our competitive nature, and we had to join the fun, so we added a little swing to our play with a Hole In One Car! On a PAR 3 hole, if a player gets a hole-in-one, we will give them a car.  Simply put, because we just can’t complicate a cause as good as this one!

2015-event-bannerWhen we look at our shiny new line of Jeeps and Rams, we can’t help but picture them being put to their purpose – making the most of the great outdoors, working hard and making memories under the great big sky of possibilities.  It just about brings a bit of mistiness to our eyes.

That’s why the opportunity to help sponsor the 4th annual Augusta Outdoors Expo was one we simply could not pass up.  An entire day dedicated solely and completely to the serious outdoorsman? Yes, please, with a side of peppered turkey jerky if you wouldn’t mind too much.

We can’t quite figure out what we are looking forward to most about this shin-dig – sharing a beautiful summer day with our fellow local business people, or learning more about some of our favorite hobbies, like hunting, fishing, shooting, archery, off-roading, and even gator-wrestling.

Ok, to be honest, gator-wrestling isn’t a hobby we venture into too often, but we heard the Gator Boys were going to be there, and we can’t say we didn’t get a little tingle thinking about meeting a tried and true Gator-Tamer.  Who wouldn’t get a tickled about that?

To say the least, we are looking forward to decking out in our camo, with our greatest and grandest outdoor-ready Jeeps and Rams in tow, and showing up with boots on to take a peek into the James Brown Arena and absorb all that will be the Augusta Outdoor Expo!

Will we be seeing you there?

Others we can’t wait to see in the James Brown Arena on August 8th:
